Sustainability at ICS

At ICs we aim to embed the theme of sustainability within our ethos, the curriculum and the everyday running of the school. We encourage practical activities to help students learn about their impact on their planet and the ways we can all contribute to a sustainable future within our school, the local community and globally.

ICS aims to develop successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.  The topic of sustainability encourages students to be creative and resourceful, to have secure values and principles and to realise their potential for improving the environment and their ability to change things for the better.

Eco Schools Scheme

Eco Schools LogoICS is a member of the Eco schools scheme (www.eco-schools.org.uk/ ICS) which encourages schools to be green through activities, lessons and games with prizes for ‘green achievements’.  Primary have the Bronze and Silver awards and will be working towards the green flag in the next school year. Secondary will be starting their eco-team and working towards Bronze.

Generation Green

Eco Schools LogoEco-schools is supported by  Generation Green and is a great resource for green activities and games. Students on the eco-teams at both primary and secondary can also collect leaves for every green action they carry out and then can exchange these leaves for prizes. So far our green actions have won ICS solar powered toys, a bird box with camera, water butt, gardening equipment, insect kits and houses and more.
